MUMBAI : With two cyclones in the Arabian Sea at the same time , Mumbai is once again expected to experience cloudy skies and isolated rain over the weekend. This, weathermen said, could bring some relief for the city which is reeling under the scorching heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday forecast rain and thundershowers for the city as well as adjoining areas, including Thane and Palghar, for Friday and Saturday.
On Thursday itself, some impact could be felt as the maximum temperature recorded by the IMD Santacruz observatory dropped to 34.9 degrees Celsius from 36.4 degrees on Wednesday. This was almost 0.4 degrees below normal. Humidity levels also were low as IMD Colaba and Santacruz observatories recorded 59% and 55% respectively.
Weathermen said this was owing to the formation of severe cyclonic storm Maha over east-central Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep area and weakening of cyclonic storm Kyarr over west-central Arabian Sea.
